Welcome to Gwalior Childrens Hospital

For last six years Gwalior Childrens Hospital Charity is working to help and provide for poor, disabled, destitute and disadvantaged people esp. children, women and old, the most vulnerable of Gwalior and Chambal region in Central India, one of the most deprived, backward and socially exploited regions of India with 11 million people including about 100000 disabled children through:-

· Gwalior Hospital for Children and women.
· The Eye Centre, for prevention of blindness and saving sight;
. Gwalior General Hospital with 15 rural health centres.
· The Gwalior mobile hospital, “A real hospital on wheels”, through which we do and carry on with health education to create health awareness to the community for prevention (including vaccination, HIV/AIDS, family planning, malaria, blindness, hygiene, sanitation, early diagnosis of diseases etc.) with audiovisual aids along with treatment, resuscitation and operations for cataracts and other surgical problems in slums, rural, and remote villages;
· Sunrise International School , a main stream school with Special Needs group and support to other schools and existing orphanages in Gwalior for education and health care needs of the children there;
· Hospice for children with HIV/AIDS and other terminal illnesses.
· Proposed Orphanage “SNEHALAYA”, meaning home with love, a centre for the disabled (those with physical handicaps, profound learning disabilities, cerebral palsy, mental illness, epilepsy and other illnesses), and where we care for poor, disabled and destitute children, giving them a life of love and happiness, and with vocational training and rehabilitation we aim to make them independent and able to lead a life with self-esteem and dignity as much as possible. Till Nov.2004 in last six years, 223249 people have been benefitted through hospital facilities with vaccinations, investigations, treatment, operations saving many lives. 437 blind got sight through eye centre. 984 children are supported for their education and health care in schools and orphanages. Radha is the best example having been abandoned and found in critical condition. She was treated and now living new life as a normal child undergoing education and care with love in the hospice for children with HIV initiated because no place could be found for Radha in whole of M.P. in India. Jubita and Gaurav are two other children out of many more, whose lives were saved by Gwalior Childrens Hospital Charity. There are many other children sponsored and getting new life through this work.

As per needs of the time, in spite of limited resources, Gwalior Childrens Hospital provided for medical relief supplies, medicines, clean water, gloves, masks etc. as well sent its mobile hospital with staff and volunteers to provide medical care and counselling services for three months benefitting 18000 people there. In association with local organisations, we continue to work to provide for rehabilitation of homeless women and orphan children among Tsunami victims there.
More than 400 volunteers from 15 countries have provided their expertise and services to the community and participated in this programme. In addition they help the charity by their contributions and by fund raising for the work.

Our Vision-

We aim and work to help and provide for poor, disabled, destitute and disadvantaged people esp. children, women and old, the most vulnerable and exploited ones in India giving them equal opportunity, a life with love and happiness aiming to make them independent enabling them to lead a life with dignity and self esteem. 100% of funds received are used to provide for the people on ground for the work of Gwalior Childrens Hospital Charity. All administrative expenses are met by trustees with their owncontributions. In addition trustees contribute more with money, time and efforts.

Programmes and Activities-

Initiated with Childrens Hospital and gradually built upon and adding on much needed services every year bringing it to this stage with hospital for children and women, eye centre, general hospital, rural health centres, mobile hospital for virtual hospital services in villages and slums, integrated school with special needs group, Orphanages for children with disabilities, hospice for children with HIV and now building the Orphanage-Snehalaya with vocational training centre, stroke centre with rehabilitation and physiotherapy facilities for cardiac and stroke sufferers.

Whole of this work has been brought to this stage with the without any financial help from Government. We request and seek for help from all sectors to make this project succesful. We also seek for volunteers from all walks of life to help train our staff and students and provide their services to the community in their chosen discipline.
